Louis XII of France, wearing hat, seated in draped throne beneath canopy, extends left hand to grasp book held in both hands of Pierre Gringore, kneeling on one knee. Behind him are six men, wearing hats, two holding halberds. Scene in vaulted room, with portal and arcade open onto landscape setting. Scene is surrounded by architectural frame, on top of which are half-figures of angels.
