Upper half: Moses: writing Canticle -- At right, four men, three wearing hats, standing behind Moses, wearing hat, seated on bench before desk, raising pen with left hand and knife in right hand. Open book on desk. From chapter 31 of Deuteronomy. Moses: Death -- Moses, holding right hand to head, left hand on breast, seated on rocky outcrop looking toward Christ-Logos, crossed nimbus, right hand on breast, indicating downward with left hand. Scene inscribed WIE MOYSES STARB UND WIE IN GOT [...]. Moses: Burial -- Man, holding mattock with both hands, stands next to grave of Moses, eyes closed, hands crossed on abdomen, reclining in ground, partially covered with dirt. Scene inscribed MOYSES GRAB. Both scenes from chapter 33 of Deuteronomy. Lower half: Joshua: before Archangel -- At left, four men, one wearing hat, two gesturing, standing behind Joshua, name inscribed IOSUE, with joined hands, looking toward angel, nimbed, holding raised sword with right hand. Scene inscribed WIE IOSUE HAUPTMAN WARD. From chapters 1 and 5 of Joshua. Joshua: addressing Officers -- At right, man with draped head standing behind Joshua, inscribed IOSUE, gesturing with both hands, standing before six men, two wearing hats, three with raised hands.
