Matthew, nimbed, with quill in right hand and knife in left hand, ankles crossed, is seated on cushioned bench with footstool, writing on scroll draped across desk. Inkhorn is inserted into hole on the desk. Above, Evangelist symbol (angel), nimbed, emerges from star or sun, indicating Matthew with right hand.
All enclosed in frame decorated with foliate ornament.
