Enclosed in medallion, cross with titulus INRI, hung with instruments of Passion including rope, sponge on reed, crown of thorns, spear, and pincers; alternating rows of monograms of interlocking Ys and interlocking Ms, possibly for Yesus and Maria.
In border around edge of cover, instruments of Passion, figures and objects (clockwise from upper left): three busts of men wearing turban-like headdress; three dice; bust of Christ, crossed nimbus, possibly with crown of thorns; crown of thorns; coins; cup held by hand with arm; cock (rooster); column and scourge; cross, hammer and mallet; chalice draped with purificator (?); hand; lantern; two feet; sarcophagus (?); crossed hands; cross with spear and sponge on reed; spear, sponge on reed and ladder tied together; hand holding heart.
