Christ: Entombment -- Body of Christ, nimbed, eyes closed, wearing short loin cloth, cradled on cloth and held at head and feet by Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea, is lowered into sarcophagus, behind which stand Virgin Mary, veiled with wimple, with joined hands raised, embraced from behind by Evangelist John, and Mary Magdalen, wearing veiled headdress, the latter three nimbed; covered ointment jar in foreground and bases of three crosses on hill in background. Decorated border of scrolling foliate and floreate ornament. Miniature at beginning of Compline in Hours of the Virgin.
