Scene, Liturgical: Celebration of Mass -- Two tonsured priests, including one holding draped paten (?) in raised right hand and the other with joined hands raised, stand behind third tonsured priest, holding wafer (host) in raised hands before draped altar with draped chalice. Above is Christ, cross-nimbed, wearing loin cloth, bleeding from wounds, affixed with three nails to tau cross. Flanking Him are Virgin Mary, nimbed, veiled, with hands raised, and Evangelist John, nimbed, with right hand touching his face. Scene in decorated initial T with animal mask.
Kneeling in niches in left border are male and female donors, possibly John de Clavering and Hawise Tiptoft, veiled, both with joined hands raised.
Standing in niches in right border are Evangelist John (?), nimbed, holding martyr's palm in left hand; and John Baptist, wearing garment of skins, with left hand indicating globe (?) in right hand enclosing Lamb of God, nimbed, holding staff with cross-inscribed banner.
Border composed of bands of foliate ornament, with numerous medallions enclosing portraits and quatrefoils enclosing interlace ornament.
