Miniature, column: Maccabees: Battle, or Maccabees: Battle against Apollonius (?) -- Beneath rays, two groups of soldiers wearing full armor, at least five raising swords or scimitars, two trampled on ground, all in combat, others holding spears or banners. Scene in hilly landscape with city buildings in background. Text is First Lesson from Book of Maccabees for Matins of Last Sunday in October. Margins decorated on three sides with scrolling floreate and foliate decoration inhabited by half figures of two prophets, wearing draped headgear, emerging from cloudy arcs, holding scrolls inscribed DOMINATOR CELUM and ORNAUERUNT FACIEM (left).
