Innocents: Massacre -- Soldiers, wearing helmets and armor, armed with spears, stand behind soldier, holding sword in right hand, with left hand grasping right arm of woman, wearing headdress, kneeling on ground, holding swaddled infant in left arm. Behind them, another soldier with sword stabs swaddled infant in the neck. To right, two women, wearing headdresses, one with joined hands raised, witness scene.
In vignette in lower margin:
Christ: Flight into Egypt -- Virgin Mary, nimbed, veiled, seated sideways on ass, holds in both arms infant Christ Child. Beside the ass is Joseph the Carpenter, nimbed, wearing hat.
