Scene, Sports and Games: Chess -- Within gold frame, chessboard with five red and gold pieces on squares lettered A-D for eight moves; diagram numbered 230. To left of board, initial C decorated with scrolling foliate infilling and with foliate ascender. Left and lower margins decorated with foliate extensions, upper part terminating in dragon-like hybrid animal biting part of the initial, and lower part on which is seated dog confronting hybrid man, wearing hood, with dragon-like body.
