Virgin Mary and Christ Child -- Virgin Mary, nimbed, wearing headdress, sits on throne with cloth of honor (tapestry) and holds on her lap nude Christ Child, rayed cross as nimbus. At left are three nimbed angels, including two wingless; one holds parchment inscribed with musical notation. In background are several buildings set in hilly landscape.
Frame:
Miniature within elaborate architectural frame inhabited by putti. Below, two human hybrids with fish tails (mermen?) hold scroll inscribed with incipit of Prayer to the Virgin, O intemerata. In right frame is medallion inscribed with motto, ROSE APRES LIVER. At base of the frame, two winged human hybrids hold wreath enclosing coat of arms.
