Miniature, column: Judas Maccabaeus: making Sin-Offering -- Accompanied by man, wearing hat, with right hand raised to face, Judas Maccabaeus, wearing tunic over armor, prostrate before coins on draped altar decorated with retable depicting Christ: Crucifixion (?) flanked by figures. Scene in room of chapel with vaulted ceiling and tiled floor. Text is Lesson from Book of Maccabees in the Post-Pentecost Season. Initial F enclosing prophet, wearing headgear, holding blank scroll; against filigree background. Margins decorated on three sides with scrolling floreate and foliate decoration inhabited by half figures of two prophets, wearing draped headgear, emerging from cloudy arcs, holding scrolls inscribed P(RO)PICIUS (NOB)SIT D(EU)S and ZELATUS EST (left).
