Upper half: Joshua: Conquest of Ai -- At left, in background, king of Ai, crowned, hanged from gallows (hanging). Inscribed at left, WIE DI KUNIG UON HEY LUARD ERHANGEN UND SEIN HER ERTOTT. In foreground, three men, kneeling on ground before man raising scimitar with both hands, and five men looking on, foremost raising right hand, indicating kneeling men with left hand. From chapter 8 of Joshua. Joshua: League with Gibeonites -- At right three Gibeonites, as pilgrims, wearing hats, hoods, each with staff, all kneeling, foremost raising both hands and looking up toward, Joshua, inscribed IOSUE, crowned, raising right hand, holding scepter with left hand, seated on throne with canopy. Four men, one wearing hood, one wearing hat and gesturing with left hand, all standing behind the throne. Scene inscribed DY PURGS UON GABAON DY IN PILGRENNS WEISCHOMEN GEGAN (?). From chapter 9 of Joshua. Lower half: Joshua: Conquest of Kings Five -- At left, personification of sun flanked by clouds, above two confronted armies of mounted soldiers, wearing helmets, two raising daggers, two with lances, one stabbing soldier with dagger, another with lance and shield piercing throat of opposite soldier holding sword and shield, one raising sword. Scene inscribed WIE DI SUNN SCUND ... TAG STILL UNG DAS IOSUE SEIN ... UBER ... NACH GOTTES WILL. From chapter 10 of Joshua. Joshua: Conquest of Kings Five -- Man extending hands to two of five kings, crowned, in hole in ground. Scene inscribed WIE DI KUNIG DI LANT FLUHN IN EIN HOL ZE MECEDA GENANT.
