Miniature: Christ: Entombment -- Body of Christ, bleeding from wounds, wearing short loincloth, reclines on burial cloth supported over sarcophagus by Joseph of Arimathea at His head, and Nicodemus holding His legs. Virgin Mary, veiled, with joined hands stands behind the sarcohagus looking down at Him. She is flanked by two or three Holy Women, one raising left hand of Christ to her face; Evangelist John; and man wearing hat, holding vase with left hand. Margins: 1) Christ: Resurrection -- In upper margin, Christ, body draped, holding cross-staff with left hand emerges from sarcophagus. He is surrounded by angel and three soldiers, one raising left arm, holding sword with right hand. The other two sleep, one resting on his shield. 2) Chief Priests: bribing Soldiers -- In right margin, man, possibly holding sack with right hand, stands behind priest, wearing hat with tall crown, raising rod with right hand, gesturing with left hand. He is surrounded by four soldiers wearing helmets and armor, two kneeling. 3) In lower margin one of four soldiers wearing helmets and armor, reclines on shield, holding right hand to head, with halberd in left hand; another, seated, rests head on lion-faced shield, next to spear; the other two place garments on ground.
