Initial I enclosing winged Evangelist Symbol of Luke (ox) with front left hoof holding blank scroll; against gold background, at beginning of Ninth Lesson for Fifth Sunday after Pentecost. Margins decorated on three sides with scrolling floreate and foliate decoration, inhabited by half figure of angel, playing harp, emerging from cloud, surrounded by half figures of possibly helmeted soldiers emerging from foliate buds (right); and half figures of two men amid foliage (lower).
