Julian the Apostate: Scene, Basil the Great praying against Julian -- Basil, tonsured, as monk, prostrate, leaning on elbows, with joined hands raised, looks up at draped altar on which are candlestick and Virgin Mary, nimbed and veiled, seated on bench, holding nude Christ Child, crossed nimbus, His right hand raised touching her chin.
