Christ: Entombment -- Body of Christ, cross-nimbed, bleeding from wounds, wearing short loincloth, lies on shroud held over sarcophagus by Joseph of Arimethea, wearing hat, at His head, and Nicodemus, wearing hat, at His feet. Behind sarcophagus, Virgin Mary, nimbed, veiled, and wimpled, kisses His right hand; she is flanked by Evangelist John, nimbed, and by two Holy Women, nimbed and veiled. Mary Magdalen, nimbed, holding cloth to face with right hand, and jar in left hand, kneels before sarcophagus. Scene beneath vaulted baldachino, with city on hill in background.
Miniature within arched frame supported by columns and architectural elements.
Margins decorated with floreate and foliate ornament, including large branches and thistle, and inhabited by birds, moth and fantastic animal.
