Legend, Tristan and Isolde: Palamedes jousting for Maiden -- Knight, wearing black armor and helmet grasping lance with right hand, shield at left shoulder is astride bridled horse with plume and face armor, leaping. The knight leans backward from blow by lance held with right hand of Palamedes, wearing gold armor, with shield at left shoulder, astride horse with trappings. In background, maiden, wearing tall hat, is seated sideways on horse with trappings. All are enclosed by wall in field with trees. Other knights, possibly holding lances, some astride horses, are visible beyond the wall.
