Livres des Merveilles du Monde: Scene, Gaul -- In upper left, castle with crenellated tower is partly visible. To right, wolf is beside two men, one wearing hat and the other wearing veiled headgear, both gesturing toward partly nude man, wearing drawers, diving into water. To far right, within enclosed yard, nude male bends to pick up entrails of animal, possibly ox, hung by rear hooves before butcher, raising knife with right hand. In foreground, man, wearing hat, with knife tucked into belt, with left hand holds torch and with right hand holds plant, possibly of grapevine, issuing flames, beside two leafy grapevines, and to far right, blossoming rose bush. Initial G of Gaule decorated with foliate ornament. Miniature for Livre de Merveilles du Monde for Gaul.
