Charlemagne: Scene, Coronation -- Pope Leo III, wearing conical tiara, raising left hand in blessing, with right hand holds crown over head of Charlemagne, raising right hand, holding scepter with left hand, seated on bench. At right stand bishop, wearing miter, gloves and chasuble, holding spear with right hand and crown of thorns with left hand (Instruments of Passion). Two men, one with arms crossed on breast, stand behind him.
