Christ: Deposition -- Christ, cross-nimbed with rays, eyes closed, wearing crown of thorns and loin cloth, bleeding from wounds in head, side, and feet, is lowered into draped right arm of Joseph of Arimathea, wearing draped headgear, Nicodemus, mounted on ladder, with right hand removing nail from hand of the Christ, His feet affixed by nail to foot of cross, all flanked on either side by Evangelist John and Virgin Mary, veiled with wimple, and Mary Magdalen, wearing turban-like headdress and wimple, the latter three nimbed. Margins decorated with border of strewn flowers including forget-me-not, daisy, rose, zinnia, pink, and strawberry, and inhabited by moth. Miniature at beginning of Vespers in Short Hours of the Cross.
