David: communicating with God -- David, with joined hands, kneels, looking up through arched doorway toward half-figure of God, nimbed, wearing hat, in mandorla of rays. Rays descend from Him toward David. Harp, partially in sack, and hat decorated with fleur-de-lis, are on ground before him. Behind him, open book is on floor. Draped throne with cushion and footrest are in background.
Scene in room with wooden ceiling, open to courtyard with landscape in distance.
Margins decorated with border of floreate and foliate ornament including viola, thistle, strawberry, white vine scroll, speedwell, dianthus, and daisy, and inhabited by butterfly.
