Scene, Historical: Battle between Rome and Macedonia -- Among helmeted Roman and Macedonian soldiers, two hold lances, one with shield, another with bannered lance, three with swords tied at waist, the foremost two hold bows and aims arrows at each other, trampling two figures, to right, one soldier holds mace or mallet. In background, city wall with two towers encloses seven (?) figures helmeted or wearing hats (heads only visible), one holds weapon, possibly spear. Scene in landscape with two trees. Figures painted in grisaille. Margins decorated with floreate and foliate border above and below left column, including strawberries, miniature within gold frame. Illustration of Book 10, History of Rome II (Rome and Macedonia, Macedonian War). Initial D of Dit decorated with foliate and floreate ornament.
