Within initial F, prophet, nimbed, grasping initial with right hand, holding scroll with left hand, standing. Initial decorated with foliate ornament. Border of rectilinear frame decorated with interlace and floreate ornament enclosing text. Animal or bird on each of four corners including eagle grasping vine (?) in talons at upper left; cock (rooster) at upper right; dog, lower left, showing teeth, confronting cat, lower right. Text is first lesson in first nocturn from Matins in Post-Pentecost season.
