Scene, Historical: Battle, Spain rebelling against Rome -- Among helmeted Spanish and Roman soldiers, six are behind hill (heads only visible), one, wearing feathered helmet, holds bannered lance, and one is of dark skin (only head visible); all confront group of soldiers, the foremost holding bannered lance in right hand and in left hand holding sword, three hold spears. Scene in hilly landscape with trees. Figures and landscape painted in grisaille. Margins decorated with floreate and foliate border above and below left column, including roses and daisies, miniature within gold frame. Initial A of Apres decorated with foliate and floreate ornament.
