Upper half: Samson: slaying Philistines -- At left, Samson, raising sword with both hands before group of Philistines as soldiers, two raising swords, one with shield, one holding knife, several bleeding from wounds, some falling or reclining on ground. Scene inscribed DO SLECHT SAMPSON DI FILISTIN UND CHAM ABER UON IN HIN. From chapter 16 of Judges. Samson: with Delilah -- At right, Samson, tied to tree with own hair, hands behind back, standing before Philistines as soldiers, armed with halberd, spears and shields, foremost gesturing with right hand.
