Stephen Protomartyr: Stoning and Apostle, Bartholomew -- At left, Stephen, nimbed, bleeding from wound by stone on head, holding book with both hands, wearing deacon's vestments, standing next to six stones on ground. At right, Bartholomew, nimbed, nude, raising knife with right hand, garment or skin draped over left arm.
Miniature and text surrounded on three sides by gold frame, also enclosing two executioners at upper left, raising stones above Stephen. Margins decorated with border of rinceaux, foliate and floreate ornament. In lower margin, inscription TANTA.
