New Testament:
Christ: bearing Cross -- Christ, nimbed, wearing crown of thorns, carries cross on His back, grasping arms of cross with raised hands. One of two soldiers, holding spear with right hand, grasps with left hand, arm of the cross, kneeling on the upright of the cross on back of Christ. The second soldier raising both arms, holds club to crown of thorns on head of Christ. Man wearing hat, trousers possibly open at back, walks backward in front of Christ, raising right arm as if to strike Him. At left, emerging from city gate one of two women, probably Virgin Mary, veiled, holds draped hand to face; the other, veiled with wimple, stands beside her.
