Three escutcheons: 1) At center, escutcheon of Pope Gregory XI -- Heraldry of argent, a bend azure and six cinquefoils gules, surmounted by triple-crowned papal tiara with infulae. Escutcheon flanked by two banners, each with crossed keys chained together. 2) At left, escutcheon of Jean de Cros -- Heraldry of gules, a fess argent, and in point three embattled bars azure, against cross-staff (only top visible). 3) At right, escutcheon of Pierre de Vernolis -- Heraldry of gules, a castle argent and boar sable, surmounted by head of crozier. Margins decorated with bezants and scrolling foliage entwined around bar border, some foliage terminating in heads of long-beaked fantastic animals.
