Angel, nimbed, holding scroll in both hands, issues from arc of heaven toward Evangelist Matthew, nimbed, beardless, seated on cushioned bench with footstool. He holds pen in right hand and book inscribed with Matthew 1:1.
Border with foliate ornament contains four roundels, within which are two birds, possibly dove of Holy Ghost, and two angels, half-figure.
