David: communicating with God -- David, wearing cowl (?), with joined hands, kneels before two sided lectern on which is open book. He looks up toward half figure of God, nimbed, raising right hand, holding cross surmounted globe with left hand, appearing in window through which rays descend from Him to David. Harp and hat are on bench behind David.
Scene in room with traceried windows, and statues on pedestals in spandrels between the windows.
Initial D decorated with foliate ornament.
Margins decorated with border of foliate and floreate ornament including fern and viola. In right margin, scroll inscribed with motto of Benoît Damian, DE SURPLUS; in lower margin, escutcheon decorated with heraldry of Benoît Damian of Blois (gules, a star of 8 points argent, on a chief or a demi eagle rising sable).
