Christ: Crucifixion -- Christ, rays as cross nimbus, with crown of thorns, wearing short loincloth, bleeding from wounds, is affixed with three nails to cross with titulus INRI. At left are Virgin Mary, nimbed and veiled, orant, kneeling; two Holy Women, nimbed, one with joined hands; and Evangelist John, nimbed, with joined hands. At right are possibly Longinus of Jerusalem, indicating Christ with raised left hand, wearing saber at waist; another man wearing knotted headgear, holding halberd (?) and shield, looking up toward Christ; and soldier wearing helmet. Bone is on ground at foot of cross. In background is city.
Margins decorated with border of floreate ornament including viola, rose, and grapes, and inhabited by butterfly.
