Within upper compartment of initial I, Evangelist Mark, nimbed, wearing deacon's vestments, holding book, stands within arch surmounted by building.
Within middle compartment, group of male figures, including hooded figure and two figures wearing caps, kneel. Two figures raise joined hands.
Within lower compartment is winged lion, as evangelist symbol, holding scroll inscribed MARCVS in its mouth.
Base and marginal extender of initial I partly formed by hybrid animal.
