Christ: Crucifixion -- Christ, with crossed nimbus, wearing short loin cloth, bleeding from wounds, is affixed with three nails to tau cross with titulus inscribed INRI. Flanking the Christ are Virgin Mary, nimbed, veiled, standing with joined hands raised, and Evangelist John, nimbed, with right hand raised. In background is distant city of Jerusalem.
Margins with ivy-rinceaux, vinescroll, and floreate ornament. In lower margin is escutcheon with arms of Eleonore de Bourbon, Comtesse de la Marche (La Marche, azure semy de lis or on a bend gules three lions rampant bendwise argent, quartered with Armagnac, quarterly first and fourth argent a lion rampant double queued gules and gules a lion rampant).
