Francis of Assisi: receiving Stigmata -- Within initial D, Francis, nimbed and tonsured, wearing habit of Franciscan with opening in side, hands raised, kneels on one knee. Above, Christ, crossed nimbus, arms extended as on cross, appears with six wings of seraph, amid rays. Five rays descend from His wounds to Francis' hands, side and feet. Another monk, tonsured, possibly Leo of Assisi sits at right, looking up toward Christ, shielding eyes with right hand. Buildings, crosses, hills are in distance.
Margins decorated with blocks of floreate ornament on gold ground.
