Barbara of Nicomedia, rayed nimbus, holds open, inscribed book on lap, seated outside tower with attached wall and gate and beside edge of pool. In background is landscape with river and buildings, including church.
Margins decorated with border of floral and foliate ornament. In left margin, sun with rays of light and fire emits tongues of flames falling upon Dioscuros of Nicomedia, wtih right hand raised over his head, standing amid flames (Dioscorus of Nicomedia: Scene, Death). In lower margin, two male figures run to right; one looks up toward the Dioscuros, and the other, with right arm raised over his head, falls forward.
