Pilate: washing Hands -- Male attendant pours pitcher of water over hands of Pilate, wearing hat and fur-trimmed garments, seated on canopied throne, the water collected in large dish, held by another male attendant. To right, Christ, rays as nimbus, is bound by rope tied at His wrists, presented by one man, holding hat in left hand, and one helmeted soldier, all accompanied by three helmeted soldiers, holding spears. In background, four men, wear hats or helmets, one extends right forefinger toward the Christ. In foreground, dog sits facing the throne. Scene in room with coiffered ceiling and windows in background. Framed text block of 15 lines is suspended from tree branch over path with arbor and foliage in foreground. Trees and foliage forming arch over scene; miniature within architectural frame.
