David: communicating with God -- David, crowned, kneels with joined hands raised to God, with right hand raised in blessing, in arc of heaven. David is in room (?), with canopied throne, tile floor, harp, scepter, and distant view of landscape with castle.
Medallion in left margin:
David: anointed -- Two men, both wearing hats, stand behind Samuel, wearing ermine-trimmed hat and mantle, holding situla (?) in left hand. Before Samuel is David, crowned, wearing ermine-trimmed mantle, kneeling with joined hands raised. Scene witnessed by man at right, removing his hat.
Margins with foliate and vinescroll ornament. In lower margin is tournament shield (escutcheon) with arms of Sivry (barry of twelve argent and azure an estoile or).
