Miniature, column, left: Evangelist Luke, nimbed, seated on chair, with right hand holding pen to scroll of pseudo-inscriptions, unfurling over side of lectern, at his feet is winged and nimbed Evangelist Symbol (ox). To right, curtain and two bookshelves on which are six books, two vessels, and an object. Scene in room with two arched windows decorated with busts of men and tiled floor. Miniature at beginning of Collect and continuing to First Lesson for Feast of Evangelist Luke (10.18). Initial P enclosing half figure of Gregory the Great, mitered and wearing cope fastened with morse, at beginning of First Lesson. Margins decorated on three sides with scrolling floreate and foliate decoration inhabited by half figure of angel, playing harp, emerging from cloud, and flanked above and below by busts of six helmeted figures, possibly soldiers, emerging out of foliate buds (left); and half figure of angel, playing lute, emerging from cloud, flanked by half figures of men, one wearing hat, amid foliage (lower).
