Legend, City of Rome: Omens for Samnites and Arretini -- To left, three men, wearing hats or headgear, extend hands and stand before chasm in ground issuing flames. To right, inside house with three windows, three men, wearing brimmed hats or headgear, sit before table laden with pitcher, three plates, cup, three loaves (?) and knife. Two men hold loaves which spill blood (feasting). Scene in landscape with tree, against gold sky. Figures and some architectural detail painted in grisaille. Margins decorated with floreate and foliate border above and below center margin, miniature within gold frame. Illustration of Book 10, History of Rome II (Rome, Battles against Other Cities).
