Bernard of Clairvaux: Scene, Vision of Christ on Cross -- Bernard, nimbed and tonsured, wearing white habit, kneels, crozier next to him on floor, arms extended, looking up toward Christ, rays as nimbus, with crown of thorns, bleeding from wounds, affixed with three nails to tau-cross with titulus INRI.
Interior scene with barred window and two doorways, one into church (?) with kneeling nimbed figure, and the other into room with statue in shrine on wall above table and next to bed with canopy. Statue sumounting pilaster on doorway to bedroom.
Margins decorated with border of flowers including viola and dianthus, and inhabited by bird. In lower margin, unicorn draped with two cloths, one possibly embroidered by woman wearing headdress, kneeling next to basket. Initial G on each cloth. White greyhound, wearing collar, leaping behind the woman.
