Christ, rays as cross-nimbus, with eyes closed and head inclined, wearing crown of thorns and short loin cloth, bleeding from wounds in head, hands, side and feet, is affixed with three nails to tau cross, under titulus inscribed INRI, erected on flowering mound, set against red background of floreate tracery incorporating fruit-like buds and scrolling vines, including the pomegranate (?). Miniature within gold frame inscribed from versicle and response of Short Hours of the Cross, ADDORAMVS (sic) TE CRISTE ET BENEDICIMVS TIBI QVIA PER SAN(C)TAM CRVCEM TVAM REDEMISTI MO(N)DOM (sic) QVI PASSUS EST PRO NOBIS DOMINE MISERERE N(OB)I(S).
