Joachim: Offerings rejected -- Joachim, wearing mantle, departing through door to left, and looking back toward High Priest, wearing hat, vestment fastened with morse and belted purse, with left and right hands holding objects, both before draped altar on which is another object, and retable with three candles; bust of dog at lower right. Scene in temple room with arched windows, within initial D at beginning of Matins, Hours of the Virgin. Margins decorated on three sides with scrolling floreate and foliate decoration, inhabited by: 1) Half figure of nimbed angel, with right hand lowered, emerging from cloud, flanked by busts of two men, wearing hats, amid foliage, also by pair of lions, one with tongue protruding, both with necks slung with escutcheons: azure, a lion rampant, or (left) and or, a lion rampant, sable (right) (upper). 2) Lion wearing plumed helmet, with forepaws holding escutcheon: per pale dexter azure a lion rampant or, sinister, or a lion rampant sable, flanked above and below by half figures of nimbed angels, orant, emerging from clouds (right). 3) Half figure of nimbed angel, with left hand raised and with right hand holding blank scroll, emerging from cloud, flanked by half figures of two men, wearing hats, with opposite hands holding blank scrolls, amid foliage, also by pair of lions, one with tongue protruding, both with necks slung with escutcheons: or, a lion rampant, sable (left) and azure, a lion rampant, or (right) (lower).
