1) Christ: Baptism -- In initial U, nimbed angel holds garment. In initial D, Hand of God emerges from cloudy arc of heaven above dove of Holy Ghost descending upon head of Christ, cross-nimbed, nude, with right forefinger raised, standing in river Jordan and baptized by right hand of John Baptist, wearing partly draped mantle, extending his left hand to Christ's right forefinger.
Scene against gold background, in monogram initials U+D at beginning of Proper Preface for Epiphany.
2) Christ: Temptation, 1st -- Christ, cross-nimbed, holding scroll inscribed N(ON) I(N) SOLO PA(NE) from Matthew 4:4, looks toward devil holding scroll inscribed DIC VT LAP(IDES) from Matthew 4:3 in right hand and with left hand pointing to three stones on ground.
