Marco Polo: Text, Livre des Merveilles, Book III, Chapter 16; Marco Polo: Scene, before Sundara Pandya of Maabar -- Marco Polo kneels before Sundara Pandya (Sender Bandi) of Maabar (Coromandel Coast of India), crowned, standing before two male figures. In water beside them, male figure, nude, holds up pearl toward ship with male figure leaning over into water.
