Julius Caesar: Scene, Civil Wars, Battle of Zela -- Julius Caesar, wearing gold imperial crown over visored helmet and heraldic coat of or with displayed double-headed eagle (possibly arms of Holy Roman Empire), pierces fallen helmeted soldier, bleeding from wounds, among groups of helmeted soldiers and men (Romans and army of Pharnaces II), wearing brimmed hats, some conical, three hold shields, two hold spears and one aims arrow in bow. Scene in landscape with trees in background. Figures painted in grisaille. Decorated with ivy-rinceaux and floreate ornament in border above and below center margin, including daisies and strawberries, miniature within gold frame. Initial L of Lors decorated with foliate and floreate ornament. Miniature for Chapter 1023 of Faits de Romains.
