Zone 1:
1) Elkanah: Portions of Hannah and Peninnah, and Hannah: provoked by Peninnah -- Elkanah, seated on bench with footstool, extends portion to Peninnah with three children, and to Hannah. The two wives, veiled, sit; trees. Behind Hannah, Peninnah, wearing snood, stands with her tongue protruding, mocking. Illustration of I Samuel 1:4,5 and I Samuel 1:6.
2) Hannah: questioned by Eli -- Hannah, veiled, kneels with hands raised toward Eli, with his head draped, right hand raised, seated under altar-canopy beside draped altar on which is cross-surmounted Ark of Convenant; hanging lamp. Illustration of I Samuel 1:14,18.
Zone 2:
1) Elkanah: returning to Ramah -- Elkanah raises right hand toward Peninnah, veiled, looking back, with four children, two holding spherical objects, and veiled Hannah. All return to Ramah. Illustration of I Samuel 1:19.
2) Samuel: Birth -- Hannah, veiled, sits in four-post draped bed under curtains, holding infant Samuel in swaddling clothes. Peninnah, wearing snood, leans on the bed. Illustration of I Samuel 1:20.
