1) In initial U, two nimbed angels extend their hands toward Christ. In initial D, the Christ, cross-nimbed, sits on cushioned bench with feet on footstool, raises right hand in blessing, and holds book with three straps in left hand.

2) Personification: Church and Synagogue -- In initial U, Personification of Church, nimbed, stands holding sword in right hand and bannered cross-staff in left hand. In initial D, male Personification of Synagogue, with wounds in bald head and right shoulder, is nude except for transparent veil wrapped loosely around his body; he falls backward.
