Boethius, standing within archway of castle, raises left hand before Personification of Philosophy, veiled. With right hand, she indicates Personifications of seven Liberal Arts. Grammar, veiled, holds open, inscribed book. Rhetoric writes with pen on writing tablet. Logic holds scroll inscribed ERGO ERGO. Music holds scroll inscribed with musical notation. Geometry holds plane. Astronomy holds astrolabe. Arithmetic holds scroll inscribed with numbers.
Figures appear on bridge over moat of castle. Beyond is landscape with church.
Foliate border frames text and miniature. Arms of Bissari family (argent two fess gules two orvets affronted in pale verd) between columns of text.
