Evangelist, John: Scene,on Patmos and Apocalypse: Dragon persecuting Woman -- Evangelist symbol (eagle) holding stylus case and inkpot (?) in beak, stands with wings outstretched before Evangelist John, seated, writing with left hand in open book on his lap.
Scene on island with bushes and tree, and with ships and city on shore in background.
In sky, woman stands in mandorla, holding nude child; six headed dragon, with seventh head on tail is at right. All heads are crowned.
Margins inscribed INICIVM SANCTI EWANGELII and inhabited by putto (?). Miniature and inscription within naturalist frame of trimmed branches.
