Julius Caesar: Scene, Death -- Julius Caesar, bearded, wearing gold imperial crown and ermine-trimmed garments, holds scepter in left hand, is pierced by three daggers held by three men, including Brutus and Cassius of Rome, wearing hats over hoods, three other men in identical dress (Roman Senators), extend hands, possibly in communication with each other, some seated on bench. Interior scene. Figures painted in grisaille. Decorated with ivy-rinceaux and floreate ornament in border above and below left column, including daisies and strawberries, miniature within gold frame.
